Psychometric assessments provide deep personal and group insights for change.
What are ‘psychometric assessments’?
Essentially they’re surveys that ask you questions about how you see yourself (self-report) or ask others about how they see you (360s). The results from these surveys are super insightful and tell us about your strengths, your character, how you think or behave, personality, and other specific information that would help you improve or develop.
The term Psychometric refers to a survey that a psychologist uses that has been based on science to actually measure what it says it does, e.g. Personality, meaning it is accurate and ‘valid’. Additionally, it will likely generate the same results if filled in multiple times meaning it is reliable over time.
Some of the assessments I like to use because they are very practical and insightful include Human Synergistics, Hogan Personality, DISC, and the Saville Wave Capability Assessment.
I tend to incorporate their use as part of coaching or a particular program such as a Leadership Development program if I am running one.
I can recommend the use of a particular assessment depending upon what you are trying to achieve. It is a relatively inexpensive way to gain valuable insights into your Self as a way of developing and improving more quickly and effectively.
